Hunger Action Month – September 2026

This September, Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank is calling on our community to play your part during Hunger Action Month! Joined by Feeding Pennsylvania and the Feeding America network, we’re asking neighbors, businesses, and community groups to take action — because hunger in Berks and Schuylkill Counties is real and growing. More than 83,000 of your neighbors — including nearly 25,000 children — are unsure of where their next meal is coming from. Your support helps us reach them. It all leads up to Hunger Action Day on September 29, 2026.

Ways to get involved this month:

Donate at helpingharvest.org/donate
Volunteer at helpingharvest.org/volunteer
Wear orange to raise awareness at your workplace or school
Car wash fundraiser at Luxe Car Wash, Wyomissing — Saturday, September 26
Dine & donate at Chipotle on Papermill Rd, Reading — Tuesday, September 22, 4–8 PM
Round up your grocery bill at any GIANT between September 1, 2026-December 31, 2026

Berks County Celebration of Community & Hope – October 1, 2026

Some evenings and causes are just worth showing up for.

On Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 5-7:30 PM, Helping Harvest invites you to the 4th Annual Celebration of Community & Hope at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Reading, PA for an evening of food, community, and great company.

Local restaurants including Thorn Alley Kitchen, Sweet Street Desserts, West Reading Tavern, Telia Perfect Greek, Sweet Ride Ice Cream, Cheers Bistro at the DoubleTree, and Helping Harvest Community Kitchen will be set up with food stations throughout the evening, giving you the chance to sample some of the best bites in the area while connecting with neighbors who care about this community. Together, we can end hunger in Berks County.
