Development Assistant
Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented fundraising staff member to join our Development and Marketing Team as our Development Assistant. This position will report to and collaborate with the Director of Development to help raise support and awareness for the work of Helping Harvest.
About us
Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank distributed 12.4 million pounds of food, valued at over $22 million, to over 350 partner agencies in Berks and Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania in fiscal year 2026. In the Fall of 2025, Helping Harvest celebrated 42 years of making a difference for individuals and families dealing with the challenges of hunger and food insecurity in our community.
Duties:
- Master the use of DonorPerfect database, maintaining accuracy and integrity of donor records and giving history
- Perform data searches and pull reports for historic giving information; provide reports to support direct response mailings and donor stewardship
- Assist with identifying major and mid-level giving prospects and conducting information searches on current and potential donors and prospects
- Work with DonorSearch wealth screening tools and any database consultants on projects including wealth screening and cleaning up address records
- Keep staff team apprised of database updates and ensure all team members are entering data and using the database consistently
- Act as the main point of contact and liaison for schools, companies, and community organizations holding food drives, events, or raising funds on behalf of Helping Harvest
- Serve as the point of contact for all local organizations and companies holding food drives
- Provide administrative and scheduling support to the Development and Marketing team
- Provide administrative support to the Volunteer Coordinator, including assistance with VolunteerHub, Helping Harvest’s volunteer tracking database.
- Along with other team members, provide support for Helping Harvest events and represent Helping Harvest at community events
- Learn and pull reports from Primarius, Helping Harvest’s food donation and purchasing software.
Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented, strong organizational skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Experience in nonprofit development or related field a plus
- Knowledge of DonorPerfect or similar fundraising CRM database systems a plus
- Experience in volunteer management is a plus
- Willingness to work occasional evening or weekend hours
- Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred

Dishwasher/Food Prep Position
Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank is seeking a dependable, hardworking individual to join our Community Kitchen team in the position of Part-Time Dishwasher/Food Prep. Hours are weekdays 1:00-5:00pm.
The Dishwasher/Food Prep is an essential member of the Helping Harvest Community Kitchen team, helping turn fresh ingredients into meals that make a difference in the lives of our neighbors. Each day, our team works together to prepare, package, and distribute high-quality meals to community members facing food insecurity. This role supports all aspects of kitchen operations including cleaning and sanitation, loading product, food preparation assistance and maintaining an organized workspace. About us:
The Helping Harvest Community Kitchen (HHCK) is furthering the mission of Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank by creating approximately 5,000 nutritious ready-to-eat meals weekly for distribution to food-insecure neighbors in Berks and Schuylkill counties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dishwashing, cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment in accordance with food safety standards.
- Loading product, unloading product.
- Stocking product.
- Food preparation assistance, as needed.
- Trash removal and equipment cleaning.
- Assist chefs and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Business Support Associate
Helping Harvest is seeking a part-time Business Support Associate to join our team. The Business Support Associate provides essential financial, administrative, and operational support to our Business Office. This role combines routine Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) tasks with general office administration. Your efficiency ensures smooth daily financial workflows and directly supports our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable (AP) & Expense Processing
- Enter invoice data into the accounting system and circulate to the appropriate personnel for approval of payment.
- Check staff expense reports and mileage claims for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain organized vendor payment files.
Accounts Receivable (AR) & Cash Handling
- Process donor checks, agency payments, and cash contributions.
- Prepare bank deposits.
- Maintain organized deposit files.
- Assist with generating and sending invoices to our agencies and partners, as required.
Office & Business Administration
- Manage incoming mail and route to the proper staff members.
- Monitor office supplies inventory and place orders as appropriate.
- Maintain secure, confidential personnel files.
- Assist with new hires by assembling onboard packets.
- Other duties as requested.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma required; Associate’s Degree in Business or Accounting preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience handling basic AP/AR, bookkeeping, or clerical work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

CDL Class B Driver
Overview
Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank is seeking applicants for a full time CDL Class B Driver. Helping Harvest provided more than 11.1 million pounds of food to neighbors experiencing food insecurity in 2025.
Duties
- Provide excellent customer service to agency partners throughout Berks and Schuylkill counties at delivery sites.
- Complete product pick-up at local retail stores, distribution centers or warehouses as directed.
- Load and unload truck upon return to the warehouse in preparation for upcoming deliveries.
- Complete daily inspections of company vehicle and address concerns with supervisor.
- Complete appropriate paperwork in a timely fashion.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of vehicle both inside and out.
- Assist other departments in the warehouse as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Maintain a CDL Class B driver’s license and all required medical clearances.
- Remain free of any health issue or substance use that would impair or adversely affect the ability to drive or operate machinery.
- Ability to work respectfully and effectively as an individual and as a member of a team.

- Ability to lift 35 pounds.
