OUR IMPACT
In 2023
- Helping Harvest (HH) distributed more than 9.5 million pounds of food valued at just over $17,000,000 to our 350+ charitable food program partners in Berks and Schuylkill Counties: food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, after-school programs, Mobile Markets and senior housing facilities.
- Of the food distributed, 4.9 million pounds were fresh and frozen foods. That’s 51.5% of the food we distributed!
- 902,844 meals and snacks were served at shelters with food obtained from HH.
- 341,945 meals and snacks were served at soup kitchens and meal programs with food obtained from HH.
- Over 2,300 low-income senior citizens received a monthly food tote through the federally supported PA Senior Food Box Program. HH delivers these totes monthly to a total of 106 sites located throughout Berks and Schuylkill Counties.
- HH’s Mobile Market program distributed 1,758,386 pounds of produce, dairy, breads and frozen meats at 23 distribution sites.
- 133,676 bags full of food were sent home through the Weekender Program at 111 sites in Berks and Schuylkill counties.
- 29,063 volunteer and community service hours were worked by 2,506 volunteers. These hours are equivalent to almost 14 full time staff.
- In 2023, our SNAP Coordinator completed 365 SNAP applications.
